Printing Methods

I work with only the very best Australian printers to bring designs to life at a quality that is second to none. I offer 4 types of printing methods - Digital Colour, White Ink, Letterpress and Foiling. Here is some information about each to help you decide what is right for your vision.

Digital Colour

Flat digital colour/black printing is the most common printing method - ink is printed onto the paper. Our printers use state of the art technology that makes the colours rich and vibrant.

Digital printing can be done on any stock thickness. For full-colour designs, we recommend choosing a white/ivory stock to provide a nice blank canvas for your coloured inks to shine.

White Ink

White ink printing uses the same print method as digital colour printing - ink is printed onto the paper. However, instead of a coloured ink, white ink is used by a specialist white ink digital press.

White ink printing can be used on any stock thickness. White ink will not show up on very light stocks, so pick a paper that is darker to maximise the contrast and allow your design to pop.

Letterpress + Embossing

Letterpress is a more complex printing method that involves pressing your design into a thick cardstock which can be done with or without ink. This type of printing gives a luxurious, debossed effect. Embossing is a similar look, but the design is pressed into the paper from behind without ink to create a raised effect.

Letterpress can be done on stocks that are 300gsm+, but the thicker the stock the deeper the impression will be. We recommend using a 600gsm+ cardstock for maximum effect. This type of printing looks best on lighter papers so you get a good contrast of shadows and highlights from the effect.

Foil Press

Foiling uses the same print method as letterpress but instead of using inks your design is pressed into the paper with foil using a hot plate. You get a gorgeous shine as well as the embossed effect that letterpress delivers.

Foiling can be done on stocks that are 300gsm+, but the thicker the stock the better, so we recommend going for double-thick paper (600gsm+). The foil used is completely opaque so it looks amazing on any stock colour.
